Global spending on building electricity grids is booming, with over $470 billion invested in 2025 according to BloombergNEF. The US leads with $115 billion invested – a quarter of the global total – while China and the EU/UK each contributed around 20%.
For years, the spotlight was on making solar and wind cheap. Now that clean power is proven to be affordable, these increasing investments show that the focus has shifted to building the transmission networks that can carry it everywhere.
This is another encouraging sign that the shift to a fossil fuel-free future is well underway.
