Africa had its biggest year ever for solar in 2025, and is now the one of the fastest-growing solar markets in the world. A new report shows solar installations jumped 54% year-over-year.
This growth came from both large publicly-financed solar projects and small rooftop and local systems.
Small-scale solar in particular is growing fast because it is often the cheapest and most reliable option, and allows communities to leapfrog oil and gas dependence and move straight to clean energy.
