The U.S. is set to add a record 86 gigawatts of new power capacity in 2026. About 93% of it will come from renewables and battery storage.
Solar is leading the way, with another record year expected and a 60% jump from 2025. At the same time, battery storage is scaling up fast, helping store that solar power for when it’s needed most.
