Some Good News: Clean energy meets rising demand as gas declines

Clean energy is continuing to gain ground around the world. 

In 2025, the share of electricity generated from gas fell for the fifth year in a row, even as global demand for electricity grew.

One reason is that countries with some of the world’s fastest-growing electricity demand are  turning to clean energy instead of fossil fuels. 

China, India, and Brazil now account for more than 40% of global electricity demand. However, they are meeting much of that growth with solar and wind rather than new gas power.
