Dose of Awe: The return of tiny glowing lights to an English nature reserve after more than 100 years

For the first time in more than 100 years, glowworms are lighting up a nature reserve in North Yorkshire, England. A group of volunteers known as “glow-getters” worked with an ecologist to raise hundreds of glowworm larvae in a garden shed before releasing them into the wild.

This summer, the first females began glowing in the grass, bringing their tiny lights back to a place they disappeared from more than a century ago.
